Ericsson to invest 1 bln rbl in Moscow 5G center in 2019–2021

MOSCOW, May 21 (PRIME) -- Sweden’s Ericsson has opened a 5G innovations center in Moscow and will invest 1 billion rubles in the project in 2019–2021, a spokesperson for the telecoms equipment maker told PRIME on Tuesday.

Russian operators will use the facility to test networks of the new generation and the Internet of Things (IoT), the spokesperson said.

President of Ericsson in Russia Sebastian Tolstoy said that 5G networks will become a driver of implementation of the national program Digital Economy.

The new center combines the technologies tested by world leaders and local expertise and will contribute to successful unrolling of 5G in the country, he added.

The spokesperson said that the center comprises a testing lab, Ericsson Academy and a demonstration studio with cutting-edge equipment and solutions of the company in the sphere of 5G and the IoT.

In 2019, the lab will hold tests and adapt a set of solutions to local requirements.
